The Chicago International Film Festival Student Film Council is now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 school year!
The Council is a program for students who have a passion and appreciation for film, cinema and the moving image. During the school year, Council members will experience and attend the numerous film festivals and film centers in Chicago and engage in conversations with directors, producers and festival programmers. Applications must be completed by June 30th. More information here.

The 2015 Chicago International Film Festival Television Awards deadline
has been extended to March 13.

Celebrating the best in television, this annual competition for TV productions and commercials culminates in an Awards Night Gala, where last year we honored CSI show runner & Executive Producer Carol Mendelsohn, commercial production company STORY, and actor Jesse Spencer.

Synopsis: After receiving confusing messages from the scientists stationed outside of the remote planet Solaris, physiologist and cosmonaut Kris Kelvin is sent to the station to evaluate the situation. Upon arrival, Kelvin discovers one scientist dead and the other two distant and secretive. What follows is an intense examination of our relationship with loss, love, legacy and mortality. Director Andrei Tarkovsky's groundbreakingly original science-fiction classic tests the understanding of our place in this universe and our perception of who we are as a human race.  Russian, German with subtitles. 166 min. Presented in 35mm film.
