WEALTH~ENERGY~PRODUCTS~HOMESTEAD~CULTURE~ORGANIZATION~EDUCATION~COMMERCE       CITY FOLKS FLOCK TO SEE BACKYARD BIRDS Chicagoland Chicken Enthusiasts Present  5th Annual Windy City Coop Tour 29 Coops/Yards In Chicago, Blue Island, Riverside, And Hammond In  Open To Visitors On Saturday 9/20, Sunday 9/21, Or Both Days, 10am-2pm Chicago, IL - 2014 marks the 5th year of the Windy City Coop Tour of backyard poultry and other urban livestock in Chicagoland. On Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, this year's Tour showcases twenty-nine host sites in 19 wards of Chicago, and in Blue Island, Riverside, and Hammond, Indiana. Angelic Organics Learning Center and the Chicagoland Chicken Enthusiasts organize the Tour so visitors can browse and learn from practical examples. During the free, self-guided event, visitors hear about hosts' experiences raising healthy chickens in the city and suburbs. According to Anika Byrley, whose family keeps chickens in Logan Square, "We love the Tour and look forward to hosting because we enjoy sharing with others how enjoyable, easy, and rewarding keeping backyard chickens can be." The Learning Center will again offer its comprehensive Basic Backyard Chicken Care workshop on November 8, with instructor Jen Murtoff of Home to Roost Urban Chicken Consulting. The advanced workshop, Urban Chicken Health Care is Nov 13.
