“Wealth Empowerment Camp” for Youth

July 7 – July 25, 2014

Chicago, IL.  June 26, 2014. Chicago area youth have traded their hoop dreams and video games for a chance to expand their vision with real life financial skills. Dr. Deena Marie Carr—Economist, Author, Speaker and Television Host is helping to ‘Stop the Violence’ one child at a time by working with youth ages 10 to 12 years old. The financial expert believes ‘when you change your education—you change your economics’ and is conducting a 4-week summer camp to show Chicago youth cutting edge techniques to become economically viable influences. “We are not just going to deal with financial literacy, but also, what it take to be an economic force globally,” said Carr. “It is to really help them understand wealth—how to create it and how to sustain it,” she continued, “By the time they finish, they can teach their parents how to invest.”

The author of several books including, The Carr Guide to Personal Wealth, has dedicated her knowledge and wisdom to help ordinary people learn the language of finance by offering free classes well over a decade. The University of Chicago Booth School of Business graduate has developed a curriculum to equip children with easy and practical steps in their formative years. “When you think of the top billionaires—they got it from science and technology,” said Carr, who received the 2013 Business Leaders of Colors Award from Chicago United. The North Park Adjunct Professor will integrate practical experience with faith, humor and real life financial aids for tweens. “We can’t keep raising our children for last century—we must raise them for the next century. We are empowering our youth to bypass all the mistakes and really concentrate on building a new focus of how to understand and sustain wealth.”
