CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 29!

The Illinois African American Coalition for Prevention is supporting the Healthy Eating + Active Living (HEAL) Act in Illinois and we need your help!  The HEAL Act funds prevention and Medicaid with revenue from a penny-per-ounce tax on sugary drinks.
As Illinois’ budget crisis continues, the good news is that the HEAL Act is on the table as part of the budget and revenue discussion in Springfield – but we need your help to MAKE SURE the sugary-drink tax revenues are included, and are dedicated to health!
We need to let legislators know that there are thousands of supporters like you who want to invest in health and fight diabetes, heart disease and other chronic diseases. We need to make sure prevention and health services in Medicaid are protected, and we want funding for community health programs like trails for walking and biking, a double value coupon program for SNAP recipients at farmers markets, and healthier school lunches for our kids.
On Wednesday, July 29, we’re going to show our legislators that Illinois voters want the HEAL Act included in the budget proposal.
Our goal is to send 1000 messages to legislators on Wednesday, July 29.
