View this email in your browser Project& and the Poetry Foundation announce  Cheryl Pope's Thursday, June 11th Poetry Foundation, 61 West Superior St. 5:30-7:30pm Free and open to the public Project&, in collaboration with visual artist Cheryl Pope, launch the first in a long-term series of publicly engaged installations around issues of violence and Chicago's youth titled Just Yell / Poetry as Self Defense. The first in the series, "From Within," will involve the raw collaborative performance Walk With Me #3, in which student poets from Phoenix Military Academy share their experiences with urban violence. Representing an average Chicago Public School class size, the 32 young Chicago writers will carve poems into the surface of their desks in this interactive installation at the Poetry Foundation. Future Project& initiatives with Pope will be produced in partnership with Chicago's DCASE (Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events), and the Chicago Art Loop Alliance.
